LA MONTAÑA
The Mountain
The Mountain is inspired by a personal experience from my youth. After five hours of climbing a mountain, I reached an enormous crevasse that suddenly interrupted the path. In that moment, the work found its origin: the instant when a single decision has the power to transform everything. To leap or turn back. To move forward or remain where you are. This threshold between fear and trust runs throughout the entire composition.
The artwork begins with an original print on corduroy fabric, then is individually hand-finished with painting and metallic textile collage. These layered interventions create a richly textured surface where color, drawing, and material interact. The softness of the corduroy contrasts with the reflective metallic elements, which shift with the light and reveal new details from different viewpoints.
Each artwork is individually hand-finished by Jimena Palacios, making every piece unique.
